I’m a self proclaimed geek on all things workplace wellness and future of work.
Here’s where I share resources.
The Breadwinners’ Podcast
True confession: I’m not the only non-academic work-life geek out there. When I started on focus this topic in 2009, there was a small group of brilliant and dedicated thinkers about this topic. Jennifer Owens was one of that small but mighty group. She was the Research Director of Working Mother Magazine. (I was pretty star struck when I first met her!) I was honored when she asked me to join her in a podcast on all things work and life. We’re 184 episodes in and about to start our sixth season. Surgeon General’s Framework for Workplace Mental Health and Well-Being
We are the midst of a global mental health crisis. It’s not just in this country, it’s a global phenomenon. A billion people live with a mental health problem. Covid-19 precipitated an additional 53 million cases of depressive symptoms and 76 million cases of anxiety disorder globally. Mental health problems will cost the world 6 Trillion USD in poor health and lost productivity. I was thrilled to see this report created by the US surgeon general that tackles the most important facets of the employee experience. It ‘s a how to guide for leader on what they need to get right. Spoiler alert: It’s not a how to of hybrid set ups. It’s comprehensive and actionable. I work with my clients to apply many of the principles outlined in the text.
